Project 7
Project
๐ Description
"Silent Pernicious" is a video art project designed to address the hidden environmental consequences of the global fast-fashion industry. With the help of symbolic imagery in this video art, such as a globe wrapped with treads, and the changing color of the water, with the release of chemical dyes, uncovers the trends followed by fast fashion, which is disrupting the ecological balance. The story follows the UNโs idea of restoring nature. The video starts by portraying "silent harm" and discarded clothing, then ends with the importance of protecting nature and making sustainable choices.
๐ Justification
This project is significant because it uses visual metaphors to address a crisis that is often ignored by the general public. While traditional documentaries use facts, video art allows me to use symbols, like a crumpled picture of an ecosystem, to trigger a deeper emotional response in the viewer. By visualizing the "threads" that connect our wardrobe to the planet's health, the project justifies the need for a shift toward sustainable production.
๐ Key Outcomes
- Through this project, I was able to learn that for disseminating, crucial information doesnโt always require words or dialogue. This project also helped me develop a deeper awareness of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, as well as strengthen my ability to communicate crucial information without the use of verbal communication.
