đź“„ Description

For this project we were required to make a documentary titled “Embracing the Loom." The purpose of this project was to document the journey of Khut, a boutique in Lalmatia, and their handmade products. I saw that great things take time. The "difficulty" of weaving by hand along the journey from scratch aligns this with the CI theme “Desired Difficulty.

🔍 Justification

The reason we chose this topic was to show how traditional craftsmanship survives in a world full of mass-produced goods. We wanted to highlight Khut’s philosophy, which is about embracing "desired difficulty," the idea that the hard work and small imperfections in handmade art are what make it valuable.

📊 Key Outcomes

  • While conducting the interview, we gained a few in-depth stories of struggle that Khut faced during their initial stage. Still, their determination to stay firm and continue with their craftsmanship makes their work different from others and valuable, which proves that certain paths of difficulties need to be overcome to reach the road of success. Additionally, getting approval for the shoot and organizing a documentary shoot in just one day were "desired difficulties" of their own. This project helped us learn a structured way of creating a production binder and conducting a documentary.
